About InnoShot

One tool between the page and the finished picture

InnoShot exists because taking a good screenshot of a web page usually means using two or three tools, and sending your images to someone else's server along the way.

The problem

Getting pixels off a web page and making them presentable are usually two separate jobs. Capture tools are good at grabbing a page, a region or an element, but leave you with a raw image. Design and "beautifier" tools make an image look finished, but most of them cannot capture a web page themselves, or only see what is on screen. So people chain them: capture in one place, crop in another, add a background in a third, and upload to a website somewhere in between.

What InnoShot does instead

InnoShot is one Chrome extension that does both halves locally. It captures exactly what you need, including regions taller than the screen, and opens the result in an editor with the effects that make a screenshot explain itself: a spotlight on the part that matters, glass panels that blur the real pixels underneath, backgrounds and frames, and redaction that is permanent when it needs to be.

How we build it

  • Local by default. No account, no uploads, no network requests from the extension. Your captures stay in your browser.
  • Minimal permissions. No host permissions: InnoShot only acts on a tab after you click, press a shortcut or use its menu there.
  • Non-destructive. Every edit is a layer over the original, so nothing is lost until you export.
  • Honest about limits. If Chrome will not let an extension capture a page, if a capture had to stop early, or if an export is too large for one image, InnoShot says so instead of failing quietly.
  • Accessible. Keyboard shortcuts and keyboard control of selections and pickers, light and dark themes, and reduced motion.
