Privacy policy

Last updated

This policy covers the InnoShot Chrome extension and this website. Both are provided by Innobrains Technologies ("Innobrains", "we"). The short version: the extension does not send your screenshots, your browsing or anything else to us or to anyone, and this website collects only what you choose to send through the contact form.

The InnoShot extension

What it does with what you capture

Everything InnoShot does happens inside your browser on your own computer. Captures are made, stitched, edited and exported locally. The extension makes no network requests: it has no server, no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting that phones home, and no account system.

What it stores, and where

  • Captures, projects, history and your saved presets are stored in your browser's own database for the extension (IndexedDB). They include the image and, for each capture, the page address, the page title and when it was taken, so the library can show them. They never leave your computer unless you export or copy them yourself.
  • Small preferences (such as the theme and your export defaults) are stored with Chrome's extension storage. If you have turned on Chrome sync, Chrome may sync these preferences between your own signed-in browsers; that is handled by Google under its own privacy policy, and it never includes your captures or projects.

You can delete captures and projects in the InnoShot library, clear the whole history, or turn on automatic retention. Removing the extension from Chrome deletes the data it stored, so export anything you want to keep first.

Access to web pages

InnoShot asks for no host permissions, so it cannot read the pages you visit on its own. When you start a capture with its toolbar icon, a keyboard shortcut or its right-click menu, Chrome gives it temporary access to that one tab (the activeTab permission). InnoShot then measures and scrolls the page to capture it, may briefly adjust things such as sticky headers and animations during the capture, and puts everything back afterwards. It sends nothing anywhere, and from the page it keeps only the image you captured, with the page address and title for your library. The full list of permissions and their purposes is in Permissions explained.

Redaction

Blur and pixelate are cosmetic and may be reversible. Redaction is opaque and is flattened into every exported image and PDF. Editable project files (.innoshot) keep the original pixels so you can keep editing; InnoShot warns you when you save one that contains redactions and offers to apply them permanently first. See screenshot privacy.

Chrome Web Store disclosure

In the Chrome Web Store's terms, the only user data InnoShot handles is website content: the image of a page you choose to capture, with its address and title. It is handled only on your computer, only to provide the screenshot features you use, and:

  • it is not sold, and not transferred to anyone, including us;
  • it is not used or transferred for any purpose unrelated to capturing, editing and exporting your screenshots;
  • it is not used or transferred to determine creditworthiness or for lending;
  • no person reads it, and it is never used for advertising.

InnoShot's use of the information it handles adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

This website

Contact form

When you send a message we store your name, email address, the topic, your message, and the IP address and browser identification (user agent) it was sent from. We use them to reply and to protect the form from abuse, and only Innobrains staff who handle support can read them in our admin panel. We delete messages when they are no longer needed to answer you or to keep a record of the conversation; you can ask us to delete yours sooner.

Counts we keep

We count, per day, how often the "Add to Chrome" button is clicked and how often blog articles and documentation pages are viewed. These are plain counters: no cookies, no IP addresses and no identifiers are stored with them, so they cannot be linked to you.

We also count which automated crawlers (search engines, AI assistants, link previews and similar bots) fetch which pages each day, recognised by the name they give in their user agent. Visits by people are not part of this count.

Server logs

Like any website, the server that hosts this site records technical information about requests (such as IP address, browser identification, the page requested and the time) to keep the site running and secure. These logs are kept only as long as needed for that purpose.

Cookies and analytics

This site does not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and makes no requests to third-party services. It uses only the cookies it needs for its forms to work securely; see the cookie policy.

Sharing

We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers. The website runs on a hosting provider that processes data on our behalf to serve the site. We may disclose information if the law requires it.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us what information we hold about you from the contact form, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by writing to us through the contact page. Everything the extension stores is already under your control in your browser.

Children

InnoShot and this website are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If we change how InnoShot or this website handles data, we will update this page and the date at the top. If the extension ever needed to send data anywhere, that would be a significant change: we would say so here first and in the extension's release notes.
