Accessibility statement
Last updated
We want InnoShot and this website to be usable by everyone, including people who use a keyboard, a screen reader, magnification or reduced motion. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. This statement describes what we do and the limits we know about. It is not a formal conformance claim: the site has not been audited by an external accessibility specialist yet.
This website
- Pages use semantic HTML: one main heading per page, headings in order, landmarks, labeled navigation, and a "Skip to content" link as the first thing a keyboard reaches.
- Everything works with a keyboard, with a visible focus indicator. The before-and-after comparison on the home page is a standard slider: focus it and use the arrow keys, Home or End. The tabs below it follow the usual arrow-key pattern.
- Text colors are chosen for contrast against their backgrounds: on light backgrounds amber text uses only its darkest shades, light amber appears as text only on the dark sections, and amber buttons always use dark text.
- Animation is minimal, and it is switched off when your system asks for reduced motion.
- Illustrations of the InnoShot editor are drawn with HTML and CSS and described with a text alternative as a whole; the sample data inside them is decorative and hidden from screen readers.
- Questions and answers use native disclosure widgets that work without JavaScript, and forms have visible labels and error messages linked to their fields.
The InnoShot extension
- Every capture mode can be started with a keyboard shortcut, and you can change the shortcuts at chrome://extensions/shortcuts.
- The area selection can be nudged with the arrow keys (Shift for larger steps), confirmed with Enter and cancelled with Esc; the element picker moves to the parent or child element with the Up and Down arrows.
- The editor has keyboard shortcuts for tools and actions, light, dark and system themes, and a Reduce motion setting; InnoShot also follows your system's reduced-motion setting.
Known limitations
- The editor's canvas is visual by nature: annotations and effects are drawn on an image, and we cannot give a full text equivalent of what you draw. Layer names in the layers panel describe each item.
- Exported images and PDFs are pictures. A PDF made from a screenshot contains the screenshot as an image, so its text cannot be read by a screen reader or selected.
- Some pages cannot be captured at all because Chrome does not allow extensions on them; InnoShot says so rather than failing silently.
