Browser and device frames

Wrap screenshots in browser or device frames in InnoShot, choose light or dark, and check the address bar URL before you share the result.

Updated

Frames put your screenshot inside a browser window or a device outline, so viewers understand straight away what they are looking at. InnoShot draws every frame itself, which keeps frames sharp at any export size.

Browser frames

Choose from several browser styles:

  • Chrome-style, resembling a Google Chrome window
  • Generic, a neutral browser window
  • Minimal, a pared-back window
  • macOS-inspired and Windows-inspired, drawn in the spirit of each system's windows
  • Rounded, a window with soft corners
  • Frameless, with no window around the screenshot

Each style comes in a light and a dark version. Match the frame to the screenshot: a dark frame around a dark interface looks seamless, while a light frame around a dark interface adds contrast. Frames can also show window controls, the small buttons in the top corner of a window.

Check the address bar URL

Browser frames can show an address bar with a URL. Before you share, read it carefully, because addresses often reveal more than you expect:

  • private paths, such as internal admin pages or staging servers
  • account, order or document IDs
  • session tokens, invite codes or password-reset links in the query string
  • email addresses or search terms

If the URL shows anything you would not post publicly, choose the frameless style instead.

Device frames

Device frames place the screenshot inside a device outline:

  • desktop
  • laptop
  • tablet
  • phone
  • generic mobile

These frames are drawn shapes, not bitmap photos of real devices, so they stay crisp when you export at a larger scale.

For a natural result, put a narrow, mobile-width capture in a phone or generic mobile frame, and a wide capture in a desktop or laptop frame. A full desktop layout squeezed into a phone outline tends to look unconvincing.

Add a frame

  1. Open your capture in the editor.
  2. Open the Frame tab in the editor's inspector.
  3. Choose a browser or device frame, then pick light or dark.
  4. For a browser frame, check the URL in the address bar.
  5. Add a background and padding if you want the framed screenshot to sit on a canvas.

Good to know

  • Frames are part of the composition, so you can switch style or remove the frame later without touching the screenshot.
  • Effects such as spotlight and glass stay inside the screenshot area and do not draw over the frame.
  • Frames work with every export format, including PDF.
