Editing

The editor and its tools

A tour of the InnoShot editor, covering the top bar, tool rail, inspector and layers panel, zoom and pan, undo, autosave and the light or dark theme.

Updated

Every capture opens in the InnoShot editor, a dedicated browser tab where you annotate, crop, highlight and style the image before you share it. Editing is non-destructive: the original capture is kept, and the crop, adjustments and every layer you add stay editable.

Layout

The editor has four areas around the canvas.

Top bar

Across the top are the project name, undo and redo, zoom controls, a reset control, and the actions that finish your work: save, copy and export.

Tool rail

The rail on the left holds the tools. Pick one, then work on the canvas.

Inspector

The panel on the right shows the options for the selected tool or layer, such as color, stroke width, opacity, font or effect strength. Change a value and the canvas updates straight away.

Layers panel

The layers panel lists everything you have added on top of the screenshot. It is collapsible, so you can hide it when you want more room for the canvas. See Layers.

What the tools cover

Area What you can do
Crop and transform Non-destructive crop with ratio presets, rotate by 90°, flip, straighten, resize or scale the canvas
Adjustments Brightness, contrast, saturation, sharpness, hue, grayscale, sepia, vignette and color filter presets
Annotations Pen, marker, highlighter, line, arrow, curved arrow, rectangle, rounded rectangle, ellipse or circle, text, numbered markers, magnifier, callout, speech bubble, underline and strikethrough
Privacy Blur and pixelate (cosmetic only) and permanent redaction
Effects Spotlight regions and glass panels that sample the real pixels underneath
Presentation Background studio, browser frames and device frames

Zoom and pan

Use the zoom controls in the top bar to zoom in on details or out to see the whole image. Long captures, such as full pages, are easiest to work on zoomed in: zoom to the area you are editing and pan around the workspace to reach other parts.

Undo and redo

Undo and redo are in the top bar. One gesture is one step: a whole drag, a slider movement or a stretch of typing is undone in one go, not pixel by pixel or letter by letter.

Autosave and saving

With autosave on, your edits are saved as you work. You can turn autosave off in Settings and use the save action in the top bar instead. Saved work appears as a project in your history, where you can reopen it later. Everything is stored locally in your browser.

Theme

The editor follows the theme you choose in Settings: light, dark or the same as your system. Settings also has a reduced motion option.

Keyboard shortcuts

The editor has keyboard shortcuts for its tools and actions. You will find the full list in the shortcut guide in Settings.

Good to know

  • Copy puts a PNG of the finished image on your clipboard.
  • Export saves PNG, JPEG, WebP, PDF or SVG files, and can export just a selected region or selected layers.
