Getting started
Install InnoShot
How to install InnoShot in Google Chrome on desktop, pin it to the toolbar, see what it asks for at install, and remove it again if you need to.
Updated
InnoShot is a free Chrome extension for capturing and editing screenshots. It needs no account, adds no watermark and works offline once it is installed. This page explains how installation works, which browsers are supported and how to remove the extension.
Where to get InnoShot
InnoShot is coming to the Chrome Web Store; the download page links to the listing once it is live. Install from that link so you get the official build and Chrome's automatic updates.
Install from the Chrome Web Store
Once the listing is live:
- Open the download page in Google Chrome and follow the link to the InnoShot listing.
- Click Add to Chrome.
- Chrome shows a confirmation dialog. Read it, then click Add extension.
- Chrome confirms that the extension has been added.
There is no sign-up step and nothing to configure before your first capture.
What you see at install
Chrome's confirmation dialog lists the warnings that apply to an extension's permissions. InnoShot asks for no host permissions, so you will not see the "Read and change all your data on all websites" warning. It requests only activeTab, scripting, storage, unlimitedStorage and contextMenus. Permissions explained covers what each one is used for.
InnoShot makes no network requests and uploads nothing. After installation it works offline: captures, projects and history are stored locally in your browser.
Pin InnoShot to the toolbar
Chrome keeps new extensions inside the Extensions menu. To keep InnoShot one click away:
- Click the Extensions icon (the puzzle piece) to the right of the address bar.
- Find InnoShot in the list and click the pin icon next to it.
The InnoShot icon now stays in the toolbar, and clicking it opens the popup with the capture actions. Pinning is optional: you can also capture with keyboard shortcuts or from the right-click menu on a page.
Supported browsers
| Browser | Status |
|---|---|
| Google Chrome 116 or newer on desktop (Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS) | Supported. Tested on Windows 11; macOS, Linux and ChromeOS are expected to work but not yet manually verified |
| Chromium-based browsers such as Microsoft Edge and Brave | They can install extensions from the Chrome Web Store and may work, but they are not tested or supported in InnoShot 1.0.0 |
| Mobile browsers, including Chrome on Android and iOS | Not supported, because mobile Chrome has no extensions |
Updates
Chrome updates extensions installed from the Chrome Web Store automatically. The changelog lists what changed in each release.
Remove InnoShot
Your captures and projects are kept in InnoShot's own storage inside the browser, so removing the extension removes them too. If you want to keep any projects, export a project backup (an .innoshot file) first.
To remove InnoShot:
- Right-click the InnoShot icon in the toolbar and choose Remove from Chrome. If the icon is not pinned, open
chrome://extensionsand click Remove on the InnoShot card instead. - Confirm by clicking Remove.
