Troubleshooting

Shortcuts not working

Fix InnoShot keyboard shortcuts by finding conflicts, assigning keys Chrome skipped and rebinding them at chrome://extensions/shortcuts.

Updated

InnoShot suggests four keyboard shortcuts, but Chrome decides which ones are actually assigned. If a shortcut does nothing, one of the causes below is almost always the reason.

The suggested shortcuts

Command Suggested shortcut
Visible area Alt+Shift+V
Full page Alt+Shift+F
Selected area Alt+Shift+S (Alt+Shift+Q on ChromeOS)
Element Alt+Shift+E
Open editor none
Capture scrollable region none
Delayed capture none

On macOS, Chrome shows Alt as Option. The last three commands ship without a shortcut, and you can assign your own.

Check what Chrome actually assigned

InnoShot's popup and the shortcut guide in Settings show the shortcuts Chrome has really assigned, not a fixed list. A blank entry means that command has no shortcut.

Common causes

Another extension already uses the key

Chrome does not assign a suggested shortcut if another extension already uses the same keys. The InnoShot command stays without a shortcut until you give it one.

Your operating system or another app takes the key first

Operating system and browser shortcuts win over extension shortcuts. Some apps also register keys that work everywhere, such as screen recorders, clipboard managers and chat apps. If one of them uses the same combination, InnoShot never sees it. Choose a different combination.

You are on a restricted page

Chrome restricts extensions on chrome:// pages, the Chrome Web Store, other extensions' pages, view-source: pages and the New Tab page, so a shortcut there may do nothing or capture only part of what you expect. Try the shortcut on an ordinary website.

Chrome is not the active window

Press the shortcut while the Chrome window with the page you want is in front.

Change a shortcut

  1. Type chrome://extensions/shortcuts into Chrome's address bar and press Enter.
  2. Find InnoShot in the list.
  3. Click the edit button next to the command you want to change.
  4. Press the new key combination.
  5. Try it on an ordinary web page.

If Chrome refuses the combination, check the rules below.

Rules Chrome enforces

  • A shortcut must include Ctrl or Alt.
  • Ctrl+Alt combinations are not allowed.
  • Operating system and browser shortcuts take priority.
  • An extension can suggest at most four shortcuts. You can assign the others yourself at chrome://extensions/shortcuts.
